Conclusiones del encuentro europeo por los derechos de los migrantes(inglés)

About 50 people from various groups from uk, france, italy, germany,
spain, slovenia and finland participated on the preparation-meeting and
from my point of view it was quiet satisfying.
for further communication i ask you to use the new distributionlist (in
the head) of this email, because much more people are "registered" now.
we hope, that minutes of the workshops and other more detailed
informations will be send out soon, but in advance at least some
conclusions.

- 2nd day of europeanwide actions on saturday, 26th of march 2005
evaluating the 1st actionday from 31st of january 04 as an important step
in networking and strengthening migrationrelated issues, more or less all
groups agreed to have a follow up. the new date in march 2005 was chosen
to have more time for preparation and not to do it again in wintertime.
concerning the main headline and contents of the day it was firstly
discussed, if a "super"focus (around camps and detentions), a double focus
(as last year with camps and legalisation) or a multiple approach would be
best. taking into consideration the variety of realities in different
countries finally the more general and positive demands " for freedom of
movement and the right to stay" were agreed. additionally it was proposed
(and from most groups welcomed) to put the mobilisation for the 2nd day of
actions into the context of a practical criticism/challenging/sabotaging
of the ongoing process to a new "european constitution" and its exclusive
citizenship ... all groups are invited now to think and communicate about
the contents and also the forms and chracter of mobilisations for the 2nd
day of action. we have a few weeks time now, before we see each other
again during the esf in london, to discuss about the call and other steps
of coordination for our action day!

- our next plenary should take place at 14th of october, the thursday
evening (at 7 p.m.) before the esf will start!, of course in london again
and we will use the autonomous space of wombles (see below). as mentioned
before the 2nd day of action will be the main topic (hopefully to finalize
a call and to spread it out through the esf...), but beside we want to use
the plenary for exchange and coordination of all migrationrelated
activities during the esf (see the following list) and beyond. so we have
decided to have another, final plenary at the evening of sunday, 17th of
october again in the wombles space.

- actions:
some groups started during and after our meeting in london with
preparations for actions during the esf. one proposal is, at 14th of
october in the morning time to have connected actions in calais and dover
to protest against immigration control (and the subsequent exclusion of
european sans papiers from the esf), and later on perhaps in
waterloo-train-station, where a lot of esf-participants will arrive and
where a detention-camp is existing. more informations will hopefully be send
around soon...
a second action was proposed for one of the airports(detention), perhaps
for saturday or for sunday. it was said, that we should not split up into
too much actions but to concentrate to a few mobilisations, if we want to
win a certain attention. and - as mentioned - it can be finally
coordinated on the plenary of the 14th ...

- inside esf
through the socalled merging process a lot of announced seminars concerning
migrationrelated issues have been kicked out, some others are obliged to
find a way to come together in a few common seminars.
but on one hand it is confirmed that barbed wire will have some kind of a
mixture of seminar/workshop about detention, camps and deportation inside
esf. still are more initiatives and networks asked to explain support at
least by signatures to strengthen the position of this event in the
negotiations about room and simultanous translations...
on the other hand the frassanito-network will try to "merge" three other
registered seminars to one. new headline would be "migration as social
movement" and with subtitles about the new borderregime, about the right of
legalisation and migrants work (and thus including the main topics of the
london meeting).

probably no vox network will have an evening event inside the esf, which
includes the "voices of sans papiers" ... but we have not had sure
informations. who knows more about?

more in general we discussed in the meeting also the exclusive character
of the esf, mainly for sans papiers and non-eu-citizens, who cannot get
visas and/or the money for the entrance-fee... one idea was to think about
symbolic (!) "storming" of the esf.

- outside the esf/autonomous spaces:
take a look to www.altspaces (at) yahoo.co.uk">yahoo.co.uk
and you will find a useful list and more hints to the preparations and
programs in the autonomous spaces.
concerning migrationrelated issues following was summarised:

-- the wombles-project "beyond esf" www.wombles.org.uk/auto
from 13th to 17th of october
as already mentioned in this space the opening (14th) and the final
plenary (17th) of our networking process for esf and beyond (!) will take
place here.
moreover some groups plan to have workshops and presentations in this
autonomous space. for example the voice africa forum prepare something,
also a noborder/anti-iom debate is proposed for this place...

-- european forum on communication rights/indymedia
www. efcr2004.net from 14th to 17th of october
it was announced, that a workshop about the relationship between freedom
of movement and freedom of communication will take place in the efcr-space
on thursday (see esf2004.net/en/tiki-index.php ).
moreover a workshop about thistuesday.org/ is proposed for efcr,
one part about its contents, one part as "training" to work with this
website.

-- life despite capitalism
esf2004.net/en/tiki-index.php
on sat. 16th of october
one day event about "commons and communities", migration should be one of
six focal points ...

-- precarious work session on saturday, 16th of october
see one of the attachments!

- other topics and proposed workshops for the esf:

-- newspaper-projekt: some people would like to produce a kind of
newspaper concerning the migrationrelated issues for the esf-time. would
be nice if some of the involved people explain more ...

-- in the workshop about migrants labour we have discussed about the idea
of a transnational initiative around the situation in the agricultural
sector in andalusia (see in the workshop-text, which was send out before the
meeting). for sure an own workshop should take place for this initiative,
but it is still open, where it should happen ...

-- another workshop was proposed for a debate about the 1st of mai -
euromayday - experiences in milano and barcelona 2004, with the intention
to extend this idea (demonstrations about precarious work and migration)
for 1st of mai 2005. where to meet is not yet clear ...

-- the decision is not yet definitive, but it was mentioned in the
workshops about the borderregime, that greek groups think for a big
nobordercamp next summer in greece. if it is decided soon, a workshop will
happen for sure, the location again is open...

-- last remark: it was explained that in one of the tuc (unions from
uk)-seminars inside the esf a participation from migrants/about migrants
work is asked for. it should be explained something more from people, who
know about.

- first calendar for proposed transnational initiatives beyond esf-time:
january 2005: transnational initiative around andalusia
26th of march 2005: 2nd day of europeanwide actions
1st of mai 2005: euromayday in more cities?...
late summer 2005: nobordercamp in greece ? ...

- finally again the hint to "our" transnational websites:
map about camps in europe, more articles and texts about situations and
struggles inside and outside detentions and camps are asked for ...
collecting informations about the borderregimes, about
migration-management and anti-iom-activities, about nobordercamps ...
-- thistuesday.org/
logs on migration, labor, transnational organizing...

and a last remark: friends from no one is illegal london proposed a
noborder-book on international dimensions of immigration control. of
course they are looking for participation and contributions ...
